Why I Love It

Orlando is the trip most families book first, and it’s usually the one where ‘stewardship’ shows up most literally — ticket packages, dining plans, and resort tiers add up fast, and a few smart choices upfront can be the difference between a trip that fits the budget and one that quietly doesn’t.

It’s also refreshingly simple logistically: no passport, no long flight, no jet lag to plan around. That simplicity is exactly why it works so well for a first big family trip, or for grandparents joining in without the complexity international travel adds.

Highlights

  • Walt Disney World’s four theme parks
  • Universal Orlando’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter
  • No passport, no flight time zone changes, easy domestic logistics
  • A wide range of family resort styles, from budget to luxury

Best time to go: January-February and September-October for lower crowds; avoid major US holidays

Good for: Families with young kids, multi-generational trips, first big family vacation
